Application Form
The application form provides the Admissions Committee with fundamental
information when it comes to evaluating candidatures for master
programs. It is therefore essential that this document provide detailed
information on relevant academic and professional achievements,
together with concerns, aspirations and motivations that could play a
role in your admission.
Application requirements for the IMM program:
- Two letters of recommendation on company letterhead - one should be from the candidate's manager. Please
note: no recommendation "form letters" are acceptable - all recommendations must be on the author's company letterhead stationery.
- A Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score report for non-native speakers of English. TOEFL
scores must be no older than two years at the time the application
credentials are reviewed. Scores must be documented by an official
report from Educational Testing Service (ETS) and sent to Purdue University. Please select PURDUE UNIV, WL/Executive MBA (institution code 1698) on the test form.
A score of 550 for the written TOEFL or 213 for the computerized TOEFL is required by the
Purdue Graduate School. The minimum Internet-based test scores required for admission are the following:
Writing 18
Speaking 18
Listening 14
Reading 19
Total 77
Note that in addition to required minimum scores for writing, speaking, listening, and reading, the
Graduate School also requires a minimum overall score that is higher than the minimums
for the four area tests combined. Applicants must meet or exceed each
of the five scores (listed above) for admission to the Graduate School. Some graduate programs require higher minimum scores. Please check the program instruction pages for additional requirements.
Only official TOEFL scores received directly from Educational Testing
Service are acceptable. For further information, visit www.toefl.org. Purdue University's code for the TOEFL application is 1631.
The Graduate School also accepts International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
scores. An overall band score of 6.5 is required for admission. For
more information, visit www.ielts.org.
For TOEFL information, phone 1-609-771-7100 or visit the TOEFL website.
- Two official transcripts from each higher institution attended.
Non-U.S.citizens must provide certified transcripts showing "grades earned"
both in the original language and in English. Photocopies are not
accepted unless they have been certified by the issuing institution.
Transcripts must indicate the date of graduation and the degree
conferred; if they do not, an official or certified diploma in the
original language and a certified English translation of that diploma
are required.
- Official GMAT results (Optional)
If you have previously taken the GMAT, a score of 520 or above is required.
Purdue University's GMAT code for the IMM application is 1RZ-R6-45 Executive MBA. A
GRE score can also be considered for those who have already taken that
test and can provide an official score report. Please request that your
scores be mailed to Purdue University and indicate PURDUE UNIV, WL/EXECUTIVE MBA (institution code 1698) as
the school to which you want your scores sent. A department number is
also needed for the GRE: please use 4299-Business Mgmt-Other.
The GMAT is not a blanket requirement for admission. Substantial work
experience and/or prior graduate education may allow the GMAT to be
waived. Nonetheless, the test is strongly recommended for program
applicants, and a good score on the test will enhance any applicant’s
chances for admission. The test may be required of applicants whose
other credentials need strengthening. These decisions will be made by
the program’s admissions office on a case-by-case basis. In addition, a
personal interview may be required of certain applicants, again where
there are issues related to the strength of other credentials.
Applicants who have completed a post-graduate degree from an accredited university
generally will be exempt from the GMAT requirements. Exemption decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis.
To order score reports go to this link.
Completed application forms and supporting documents, including the GMAT score
report, should be received by the program's admissions committee no
later than February 1, 2009. Early application is encouraged,
since enrollment is restricted to approximately 55 qualified
participants per entering class, and admissions are approved on a
continuing basis as received. Accordingly, applicants who have not
already done so should plan to take the GMAT well in advance of the
February 1, application deadline, preferably by December 28, 2008.
